◆Wood specimen collecting in the Takakuma Research Forest, Faculty of Agriculture, Kagoshima University

Date and time: March 7th to 9th, 2021

Location: The Takakuma Research Forest, Faculty of Agriculture, Kagoshima University

We collected wood specimens and voucher herbairum specimens having flowers, flower buds, or fruits of species that could remain as earthenware impressions in the Tamakuma Research forest of Kagoshima University. Although Cerasus jamasakura and Helwingia japonica were already blooming in the lower coastal areas, it was early spring in the research forest situated at higher elevations. We collected flowering specimens of such species as Michelia compressa, Eurya japonica, Camellia japonica, Neolitsea aciculata, and Symplocos kuroki and specimens with flower buds such as Distylium racemosum, Stauntonia hexaphylla, and Euonymus hamiltonianus. We also collected culm speciemsn of bamboo species.
